Faith in Jesus and the cultural landscape of the Basque Country are topics I am interested in. My friend Rick Walker has written extensively on these topics. What makes him qualified to write? Well for starters he loves this culture, people and land so much. He is like me an outsider looking in (often he visits) and like me we share an interest in discussions with Basque people about faith and who Jesus of Nazerth is.
I also mentioned my good friend Bill Robinson who has been a encouraging wise and heartfelt friend over many years (I look forward to making a video about his involvement with Basque people and connecting in my next video)
The sites below are content focusing on contextual theology, examining how the Christian message interacts with Basque traditions, history, and spiritual longing without erasing indigenous identity.
Some people may not have time right not to navigate over on substack so I’ll summarize to caffeinate (is that a word?) your interest?
Rick looks at the history of faith in the region, particularly how believers navigated institutional failure, trauma, and political conflict in the 20th century. He also is brave to cover topics from the view of relationship between honoring local culture and following the historical claims of Christ without relying on coercive power. Enjoy reading and leave a comment on his substack and he would be glad to dialogue with you.
